Privacy Policy
Last updated August 21, 2026
What you preserve with Prsrve is among the most personal material a service can hold. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, how we use it, who can ever see it, and the choices you have. The short version: your moments are private, we do not sell data or run ads, and nothing you preserve is shown to anyone until the release process you control has been completed.
Contents
What we collect
Account information: your name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). Content you preserve: your written moments, titles, captions, photos, audio, and video, along with details you attach such as who a moment is for. People and readers: the names, relationships, and email addresses of people you choose to add. Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe; we receive confirmation of payments and a customer reference, never your card number. Technical information: log and device data needed to run and secure the service, and error reports (via Sentry) when something breaks.
We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in and keep the service secure. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use information
To provide the service: storing and displaying your moments, processing payments, sending the emails you initiate, and operating the release process. To keep Prsrve safe: detecting fraud, securing accounts, and fixing errors. To communicate with you about your account. That is the list. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use your preserved content to train artificial intelligence models.
Who can see your moments
By default, no one but you. Our staff do not browse your content; access to stored content is restricted and limited to what is necessary to operate the service, investigate abuse, or comply with the law. Your designated readers can see your moments only after the release process is complete: a request through their private link, documentation of your passing, and approval by a human reviewer.
Information about the people you add
When you add someone as a reader, you give us a small amount of information about them: typically a name, a relationship, and an email address. We use it only to send the notification you ask us to send and to operate the release process. We never market to your readers. If a person declines their role, we record that choice and stop contacting them. A person who wants their information removed can email us at any time.
Service providers
Prsrve runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf: Supabase (database and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and Sentry (error monitoring). Each receives only what it needs to do its job and is bound by its own contractual and legal obligations. We may also disclose information if required by valid legal process, and in the release process we handle the documentation described in our Terms.
Retention and permanence
Preserved moments are kept for the life of the service; permanence is the product. We keep account information as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your moments, media, and personal information are permanently deleted; residual copies in encrypted backups are removed on the backup rotation schedule. After a verified passing and release, moments remain available to the readers you designated, which is the purpose you preserved them for.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is limited and controlled, media files are stored privately and served through expiring links, and payment data never touches our servers. No service can promise perfect security, but protecting this material is the core of what we do, and we monitor for and will notify you of any breach affecting your data as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your moments and account details in the app at any time. You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it by emailing care@prsrve.com from your account email. California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA, including the rights to know, delete, and non-discrimination; we honor these requests for everyone, resident or not. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in the CCPA.
Children
Prsrve is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we will delete it if we learn we have.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will email you at your account email before the change takes effect. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
